I love seeing research that shows how powerful therapy can be. This article, tweeted by The NY Times last night, caught my eye because it expands upon a topic that I'm seeing more and more about - that therapy can be equally or even more effective than psychopharmaceuticals. The article also notes how cost-effective psychotherapy can be compared to years of medication. Psychopharmacology can certainly work for many people - if it didn't, it wouldn't be so widely used. If you have used medication as a remedy for mental health issues in the past and it worked well for you, I'm certainly not here to persuade you otherwise. Unfortunately, therapy is a tragically underused and under appreciated resource for a variety of reasons.
Here are two more articles that speak on the effectiveness of therapy with schizophrenia and insomnia.
